Bally's offers a good mid-strip location at a price that is usually a little better than most of the hotels around it (with the exception of Barbary Coast). The hotel is on the south-east corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Boulevard (aka The Strip). Bally's is one of the few large hotels on The Strip that doesn't have any obvious theme.

One feature to be aware of if you are flying into Las Vegas is the airport check-in offered by Bally's. Use the Caesars hotel check in facility located in the main baggage claim area of McCarran Airport to check in and get your room key. There is often a line at the hotel's reception desk, so the airport's check in can be a real time saver.

The property is not very well laid out and it can take a while to get around. The pool is located at the back of the property which makes swimmers walk through the mall. To get from the casino to the strip requires using several escalators and moving sidewalks. The one good feature is that it is connected to Paris Las Vegas by way of a small mall.

Bally's 2,814 guest rooms provide decent accommodations for the traveler. The standard guest rooms (called deluxe guest rooms by the hotel) are a good-sized 450 square feet. The rooms aren't the most elegantly appointed, but are fine for most people. After all this is Vegas and you probably won't be spending much time in your room.

Hair dryers are included in every room. In room safes are available, but a $3.00 a day charge applies.

History

The hotel originally opened in 1973 as the MGM grand. In 1980 the hotel had a disastrous fire that killed 87 people. The hotel re-opened 8 months later, but was sold in 1985 and renamed Bally's Las Vegas.

Casino

The 56,000 square foot casino is laid out in a large rectangle, so it's easy to get around. They have a large selection of slot and video poker machines as well as a large variety of table games as well as a poker room with Texas Hold 'Em and Seven Card Stud.
