My parents have been going there since it opened. I spent my honeymoon there in 1984. We’ve since taken my 16 year old daughter there three times. God……the memories. My dad has since passed away. I cried this morning. I’m so glad to see that this place meant so much to other people too. Where are we gonna stay now? The new ones are just too crowded. This was a really nice place. Love All!!!

Thanks for the memory,Wayne Newton put some great Irish Bands on there for 30 years,The Big 8,with Brendan Bowyer, and D>J> Curtin from Tralee, and of course the Royal Showband.

It is such a shame to see the old Casino’s which were true landmarks in Vegas coming to an end.I come to Vegas (from Pa. twice a year) while I enjoy the new casinp’s I truly felt more comfortable and at ease at the older ones. Now I have heard possibly the Riviera and Circus Circus will also go down? This is just terrible, nothing left to reminice about and think about now just bigger and bigger but no true memories!!!

Secrecy … why?
This hotel was a Las Vegas Landmark for the last 48 years and it went down into the history of this remarkable city. It deserves a farewell that matches its unique history as the biggest hotel with the biggest swimming pool catering to classy people when it first opened. Not everybody might understand this in our times but that is how it was.
At least when the mob ran a hotel like this there was no trailer-trash there or people dressed like they had just been pulled out of the dumpster. Let this Hotel go down with the attention and dignity it deserves!!!
