Today MGM Mirage announced that Hotel32, the Luxury hotel-within-a-hotel at Monte Carlo Las Vegas, is going to be opening on August 10th.

Here is the full press release:

You don’t have to be a celebrity to be treated like one at the soon-to-open HOTEL32. Located on Monte Carlo’s top floor, the exclusive boutique hotel, opening August 10, will offer the escape savvy travelers search for but seldom find; a celebrity VIP experience, available to all.

Right from the start you’ll know you have found something special as you are whisked away from the airport in a limo. When you arrive through the grand porte cochere at Monte Carlo, a Suite Assistant will be waiting to personally escort you to HOTEL32 via a private, express elevator, accessible by key card only. No check-in desk here; you proceed directly to your retreat and check in privately within the comfort of your room, leaving those registration lines behind. The Suite Assistant will provide a tour of your room’s features, amenities and services, ensuring you won’t miss out on even a moment of indulgence, from the 12 pillow offerings to the popular Nintendo Wii.

A collection of five room types, ranging from studios to 2-bedroom penthouses, will allow choices to fit every occasion and budget. Whether you want a romantic getaway or a fun-filled girls’ or guys’ weekend, the suites have been carefully designed to provide entertainment spaces suitable for everything from intimate gatherings to social events.

Each room’s sleek, uncluttered architecture will be paired with contemporary furnishings and luxurious amenities. The rich colors of chocolate and cream will be accented with citrine, turquoise, amethyst, ruby and orange, to set a tone of warmth and sophistication. Comfy, oversized custom furnishings along with a variety of hand-selected stone surfaces, including marble, onyx and granite, will create a place where you can hang out and feel like the ultimate VIP.

The comfort will continue within the spacious bathrooms, rich in detail and design. Providing a serene, spa-like sanctuary, each suite will feature soothing hydrotherapy soaking tubs. A shower with modish overhead panels which produce a gentle rainfall throughout the enclosure — and chromatherapy, the use of colored lights for added relaxation, will be another highlight in many of the suites.

If you like gadgets, unexpected high-tech amenities won’t disappoint. Available in several suite types, a Crestron remote system will make for an easy, one-stop control of the room’s drapes, lights and electronics; a BluRay player and a TV integrated into the bathroom mirror also will increase the “fun” factor. HDTV flat-screen plasma television, use of an iPod touch with mobile concierge application, and iHome clock radio with an iPod docking station will be standard in all HOTEL32 accommodations.

For business travelers and people who want to stay connected, laptop computers will be available upon request, and a tech-savvy workstation will feature complimentary high-speed wireless Internet access and dual phone lines. Other complimentary amenities will include fax services, local and toll-free calls as well as daily fitness center passes, newspaper and water. All are provided to help ease the strain of having to work while in such a glamorous setting.

What would a celebrity-like experience be without someone at your beck and call? All HOTEL32 guests will have exclusive access to a dedicated Suite Assistant, who will provide butler and concierge services throughout the stay. From the curbside greeting and a custom itinerary to fit individual interests to bath services and complimentary clothes pressing, Suite Assistants will make it hard to go back to “everyday” life. At HOTEL32, where everyone is a VIP, touches such as a welcome amenity, a signature turndown gift and a pre-stocked refrigerator based on the guest’s preferences will make every guest feel special.

Pairing stunning views of the Las Vegas skyline with a delectable assortment of refreshments and evening cocktails, lounge32 will enhance the pampering a step further. Located on the 32nd floor and available to all HOTEL32 guests, lounge32 will be a great spot for grabbing a cup of coffee before the spa or sipping a martini before an evening out on the town.

To make reservations for an August 10 stay and beyond, call Monte Carlo, a wholly owned subsidiary of MGM MIRAGE (NYSE: MGM: 5.82, 0.319, 5.8%), at (877) 576-3232 or visit www.hotel32lasvegas.com.

It looks like Monte Carlo is launching something new soon. It’s called Hotel32. Not much has been said about it yet, but here is our best guess at what it is.

It seems like it will be a boutique hotel on the top floor of the Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo has 32 floors, hence the name Hotel32. MGM Grand has a similar “hotel within a hotel” concept called SkyLoft. After last year’s fire at Monte Carlo, they probably completely redid some of the rooms, turning them into luxury suites.

Here are some pictures of the new rooms:

Bedroom in Hotel32 Monte Carlo Las Vegas

Living Room at Hotel32 Monte Carlo Las Vegas

They are obviously going for a more high-end clientele than the usual Monte Carlo guest. We will try to get more details as they become available.

“We’re finally prepared to leverage this unique, incredible physical location, where we straddle two of the most dynamic exhibit centers on earth — the Las Vegas Convention Center to our immediate east on the adjacent property and the Sands Expo & Convention Center on the adjacent property to the south,” Wynn says.

The plans also include a free underground tram system to help move guests around the new massive resort. There was no announced start date for the new projects.

Las Vegas is still booming. The number of projects under construction and planned is amazing. This is a list of the major projects that will be completed in the next 3 years or so. These 7 projects total $30.6 billion and over 30,000 new rooms.

Encore at Wynn Las Vegas: $2.2 Billion, 1818 Rooms, opening December 2008

This is an addition to what many consider the most luxurious resort on the Las Vegas strip. It will have 1,818 rooms (suites), 222 over-sized suites, 70,000 sq ft of gaming space, 6 restaurants, 8 bars and lounges including a nightclub, 11 retail outlets, 2 pools and a 50,000 sq ft spa. This is all in addition to what already exists at the current hotel, Wynn Las Vegas. Combined, this will be an amazing expanse of high-end resort amenities.

Cosmopolitan: $3 billion, 2,998 rooms, opening late 2009

Unlike most of the Las Vegas developments under construction, this project is on a fairly small parcel of land with only 400 feet of strip frontage for the 8.5 acre site. But smaller does not mean less in this case. Located just south of Bellagio, this project has some impressive stats:

150,000 sq ft of convention and meeting space

A 70,000 sq ft casino

Over 300,000 sq ft of retail, restaurant, and entertainment space

50,000 sq ft fitness center and spa

1,800 seat theater

CityCenter (MGM Mirage Inc.): $7.8 billion, 7,850 rooms, 15,900 jobs, opening late 2009

This is the grand-daddy of of Las Vegas developments. Located where the Holiday Inn Boardwalk used to stand, it is the largest privately owned project ever undertaken in the U.S. The pace of the development is incredible. The number of cranes in this space is overwhelming, it is hard to even count how many cranes are being used. Within the CityCenter space there will be 5 individual hotels/residences. In total there will be about 7,000 hotel rooms and condos in this development.

CityCenter – 4,000 room, 60 story Hotel

Mandarin Oriental – 400 room Hotel/Residences

The Harmon – 400 room Hotel/Residences

Vdara – 1500 unit Condo/Hotel tower

Veer – Twin towers, each with 350 unit luxury condos

165,000 sq ft casino

500,000 sq ft of retail and entertainment space

300,000+ sq ft of convention and meeting space

2,000 seat theater

70,000 sq ft spa

7,500 car parking garage

Fire station

monorail

On-site power plant

Fontainebleau: $2.8 billion, 3,889 rooms, opening late 2009

The 63 story Fountainebleau Resort will stand on the north end of the strip next to the Rivera. It is where El Rancho and Algiers casinos used to be.

3,800+ hotel rooms/condos

100,000 sq ft Casino

60,000 sq ft spa

3,200 seat performing arts theater

180,000 sq ft of retail space

393,952 sq ft of meeting space

19 fine dining and casual restaurants

20 bars and lounges

20,000 sq ft ultra-modern nightclub

Echelon (Boyd Gaming Corp.): $4.8 billion, 5,300 rooms, opening late 2010

Located north on the strip where the Stardust and Westward Ho casinos used to stand, Echelon will have 4 individual hotels with a combination of upscale rooms and suites.

Echelon Resort – 3,300 rooms

Resort Tower with 2,600 rooms

Suite Tower with 700 suites

spa facilities in each tower

140,000 sq ft casino

25 restaurants and bars

2 theaters: 4,000 seats and 1,500 seats

Shangri-La Hotel – 400 rooms and suites

20,000 sq ft spa

meeting space

2 restaurants

Delano Hotel – 600 rooms and suites

destination nightclub

lobby bar

Asia de Cuba restaurant

spa and fitness facilities

Mondrian Hotel – 1,000 guest rooms and suites

distinctive bar and restaurant

meeting and conference space

private pool and recreation area with Skybar

825,000 sq ft of meeting space

350,000 sq ft of shopping

Las Vegas Plaza (Elad IDB): $5 billion, 3,500 rooms, opening 2011

The Las Vegas Plaza is going up where the recently imploded New Frontier hotel once stood. It will be modeled after its namesake Plaza hotel in New York City.

Seven towers containing 6,700 rooms (4,100 hotel rooms and 2,600 resort condominium units)

175,900 sq ft of casino area (making it the largest casino on the strip and second largest in the valley)

134,500 sq ft of restaurant area

347,887 sq ft of retail area

539,607 sq ft of convention space

50,000 sq ft of health club space

1,500 seat theater

227,038 sq ft of open space on the roof top of the podium that includes the pool areas

Crown Las Vegas: $5 billion, 5,000 rooms, opening 2011

This towering hotel was originally proposed to be 1,888 feet tall, but the FAA would not allow a tower that tall only 2.5 miles from McCarren Airport. The new FAA-approved height of the tower will be 1,064 feet. This will be the tallest building in Las Vegas (the Stratosphere tower is taller, but not classified as a building) and the tallest hotel in the USA. It will be located on the north end of the strip, where the old Wet and Wild used to be. The original plan had 5,000 hotel rooms, but since the tower height has been reduced they might build twin 1,064 foot towers to accommodate all the rooms.

If you’ve been in the Luxor lately you’ve probably noticed that there is a lot of construction going on. Here is a summary of what’s happening:

Aurora – Open Now. This is a new bar located across the lobby from the front desk. It’s named for the lights on the ceiling that the northern lights.
Restore – Open Now. This is a new pool area for those 21 years and older. They offer amenities like iced aromatherapy towels, margarita Popsicles and more.
Cathouse - Opening Fall 2007. This is an 18th Century bordello themed entertainment dining and ultra lounge located near the Pyramid Cafe. Sounds interesting.
Flight – Opening Fall 2007. A cocktail bar that will be across from LAX.
Liquidity – Opening Fall 2007. This is an ultrabar featuring three different lounges and gaming. It will be in the middle of the casino.
LAX – Opening Fall 2007. LAX is a dance club in Hollywood that is opening a new branch in at Luxor. This is being run by the same people who do Pure at Caesars Palace and Tangerine in TI, so it will probably be a popular one. It will be near the Casino cage.
Aspen 702 – Opening Fall 2007. Aspen 702 is a new steakhouse, also run by Pure Management Group. Think high-end Aspen ski lodge. The 702 comes from the Las Vegas area code. The chef there will Jonathan Snyder, who was formerly executive chef of PRIME Steakhouse at Bellagio. There is also star power behind this restaurant, Nicky Hilton, Wilmer Valderrama and Nick Lachey have been linked to the project.

It all sounds pretty interesting, and Luxor is obviously trying to update it’s image to be much more hip and happening. I will miss the old Nefertiti lounge though, which was was a good old-school, free, cheesy Vegas lounge.

If you want to book a room, make sure to look for the latest deals at Luxor, Las Vegas.

Another old hotel and casino on the Las Vegas strip is closing. The New Frontier’s new owners, The Elad Group, which is controlled by Israeli real estate billionaire Yitzhak Tshuva, announced that it will be closing the New Frontier on July 15th at midnight. The implosion of the hotel is set for early next year.

The new owners of the land are going to spend between 5 and 7 billion dollars to build a Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, which will resemble the Plaza hotel in New York. It will contain a hotel, condominiums, a casino, and retail space.

The Elad Group owns the New York version of the Plaza Hotel, which is currently closed for a $400 million renovation.

Looks like there are more changes are coming to the north end of the Las Vegas Strip: there are several reports that the New Frontier is being sold to real estate mogul Yitzhak Tshuva for 1.5 billion dollars. Tshuva most recent high profile purchase was the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Phil Ruffin has denied that the sale has happened, but indications are that the deal will go through.

The New Frontier was built in 1942 and has been the speculation of many rumors over the last few years. With all the new construction going on around it, it is not surprising that it would not stick around in its current form for long. The New Frontier’s current owner, Phil Ruffin, at one point was planning on making a jazz-themed resort named Montreaux on the site. Ruffin bought the property in 1997 for $165 million.

The area around the New Frontier has been on a building boom recently. Donald Trump is building Luxury condos on a site next door, which used to be part of the original Frontier lot. Across the street, Wynn is adding a second tower. Just north of the property the Stardust was imploded to make way for the Echelon Resort.

Tshuva plans on turning the place into luxury condos.

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is planning on expanding in a big way. Recently announced plans call for nearly $1 billion to be put into the property. A new tower with 950 rooms will be added, the casino will double in size, and new restaurants and convention space will be added. The pool area will be expanded as well. The new tower will be 1 15-floor all suite hotel. The construction is supposed to be done by mid-2009.

Hard Rock announced a fairly similar plan a while ago, but then suddenly halted the plans about a year ago. Hopefully this time it will stick.
