New Frontier Sold?

March 22nd, 2007 · No Comments

Looks like there are more changes are coming to the north end of the Las Vegas Strip: there are several reports that the New Frontier is being sold to real estate mogul Yitzhak Tshuva for 1.5 billion dollars. Tshuva most recent high profile purchase was the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Phil Ruffin has denied that the sale has happened, but indications are that the deal will go through.

The New Frontier was built in 1942 and has been the speculation of many rumors over the last few years. With all the new construction going on around it, it is not surprising that it would not stick around in its current form for long. The New Frontier’s current owner, Phil Ruffin, at one point was planning on making a jazz-themed resort named Montreaux on the site. Ruffin bought the property in 1997 for $165 million.

The area around the New Frontier has been on a building boom recently. Donald Trump is building Luxury condos on a site next door, which used to be part of the original Frontier lot. Across the street, Wynn is adding a second tower. Just north of the property the Stardust was imploded to make way for the Echelon Resort.

Tshuva plans on turning the place into luxury condos.
